DOMAIN NAME RESPONSIBILITIES
Terms of Use, Policies and Agreement
Spectrum Hosting's affiliation with Dotster, Inc. our preferred domain registrar is that Spectrum Hosting is a domain name reseller for Dotster, Inc. All domain registration links and domain name services are provided by Dotster, Inc.
DOMAIN REGISTRATION:
Customers may register available domain names of their choice, and will obtain their own domain account from Dotster, Inc. Domain registration is done separately of any services in which SpectrumHosting.com offers. Spectrum Hosting has no authority over customers domain names.
Customers use their own credit card when registering domain names and are advised to use their legal name on the registration forms and keep their contact information current.
Customers are responsible for keep, in a safe place, their own domain account LOGIN and PASSWORD they openned their account with.
You may add new domain names to the same account, or you may open a separate account for the different domain names in which you register.
RENEWALS:
The option for automatic credit card renewals is available upon sign up, inwhich Dotster, Inc. will automatically bill your credit card for renewals. Or you can opt to be sent a renewal notice, in which you will be responsible for replying to the email renewal notice to renew your own domain names.
All renewal notices or correspondance regarding your domain name are sent to you by your register - Dotster, Inc. using a Registrar link that looks like this:

The resellers domain address will also appear on the notice, as a way of letting you know which domain registration site you used when registering your domain name. You may also go directly to the Dotster.com site to renew your domain name, and login using your own login name and password to the (same) domain manager on their site. http://dotster.com
Renewal notices are sent several times; 60 days, 45 days, 30 days, 15 days, etc. prior to your expiration date, giving you ample time, notice and instructions for renewing your domain name(s). click on the link to enter the domain manager in order to renew your domain name(s).

Spectrum Hosting default nameservers are registered with Dotster, Inc. and appear as a convenience to our customers.

New customers will be sent a Welcome letter indicating which nameserver to use (depending on which server we determine your hosting account will be on, when you sign up for hosting services with Spectrum Hosting.
Use whichever default (currently NS1.SPECTRUMHOSTING.COM, NS2.SPECTRUMHOSTING.COM) nameservers appear during registration if you will be hosting your site with us, or input the nameserver of the hosting company that will be hosting your site.
SERVICES:
Hosting services are provided separately from any domain name registration service offered by any register.
You are NOT required to use Dotster, Inc. as your domain registrar. Spectrum Hosting has the ability to host domain names that are registrared from ANY domain registrar. Dotster, Inc. is just our preferred registrar.
NOTICE:
Regarding Spectrum Hosting customer's domain name responsibility and account actions taken in regards to expired domain names.
It is the responsibility of the domain name owner to renew your own domain name(s) themselves. Depending on the policies of your domain registrar, normally the owner of the domain name receives an email notice with instructions for renewing your domain name. Keep your email address current and make sure you are listed as the billing party, so you receive these important notices. Should you ever change your email address, login to your registrar's domain manager to update your records.
If you ignore domain name renewal notices, and your domain name expires, you could lose your domain name. If you lose your domain name it will automatically be taken over by the registrar, and it will become available for others to register.
Spectrum Hosting have no control over your domain name because you are the owner of your own domain name. If DNS (Domain Name Service) - which is provided by your registrar - fails to resolve on our server because your domain name expired, your Web site will go down.
Any files remaining on our Web server, are subject to continual hosting fees, even if you lose your domain name. You will need to submit a help desk ticket to cancel your account and stop any recurring payments.
If you feel uneasy about renewing your domain name yourself, or you are unsure of when your domain name is up for renewal please submit a support ticket at http://spectrumhosting.com/helpdesk.html for further assistance. Depending on the nature of your domain name inquiry, there may be a small service charge, which will require your approval and payment in order for us to help you resolve a domain name issue.
